Poetry Thursday, Thanksgiving Edition

Gratitude -- is not the mention

Of a Tenderness,

But its still appreciation

Out of Plumb of Speech.
When the Sea return no Answer

By the Line and Lead
Proves it there's no Sea, or rather

A remoter Bed?

Perspective and Gifts from the Universe

A friend
is one
that knows you
as you are,
understands where
you have been,
accepts what
you have become,
and still,
gently allows
you to grow.

~Elbert Hubbard
Philosopher, Author, Publisher

[I saw this posted, and mis-attributed to Wm Shakespeare, and had to investigate.  The author's life story, and the number of quotes of his that we use in daily life are amazing. ]

I had the opportunity to meet Bruno, pictured above, on my short jaunt into Chicago in August.  His life is worthy of a children's book.  Maybe someday I will get around to that one.  His life, and his owners, brought me some perspective at a challenging time.  When I see his little face, I remember how important it is to not judge a book by its cover.  I remember the power of love and how unexpectedly it can come - or maybe that it can come in unexpected packages.

We rarely have control of the gifts the universe will bestow.  The best we can try to do is be receptive when they land on our doorstep.  And, of course, to be thankful.
I am thankful! Still working to incorporate into my life all the gifts I received on that trip to Chicago.

Poetry Thursday

Love here on earth
Love beyond the grave
There are no roads
My love for you can't pave.

Happy birthday, sister

The strands are all there ...
to the memory,
nothing is ever lost.

I got things to say...

...and do, but it is all still percolating.

I am going to just leave this here for you all:

I finally got around to listening to the whole episode that included this awesome song.

This song on repeat got me through the last thirty miles of my nearly 300 miles drive today.

There was a lot of weeping so I needed this strong song to remind me that we are made of resilience.

Come at me bro...

Poetry Thursday, back on track...

Faith is an oasis
in the heart
which will never
be reached
by the caravan
of thinking.

Poetry Thursday sort of...

The pain, their loss,
it's all I have left of them.
You think the grief
will make you smaller inside
like your heart will collapse
in on itself,
but it doesn't.
I feel spaces opening up
inside of me
like a building with rooms
I've never explored.
~spoken by Dolores on Westworld
not sure who wrote it for the robot or the character, but I like it.

Para los seres queridos...

We gathered to decorate Sergio's grave on Sunday.
This is before
-- a bag of supplies.
And eager hearts
with food and
energy and
love for Julie and Sergio.
It started shaping up with flowers and decorations.

Julie and I scoured a grocery store for many of Sergio's favorite things.
Alita was particularly intrigued by the process... I kept giving her jobs (and treats).

Alita helped give out paper and pens so we could all write Sergio private notes.
the final product... and closeups of the offerings...

Julie thanked everyone for coming, and Alita, Sara and Kathryn comforted Julie... it was heartbreaking and beautiful.
We burnt the notes as our delivery method.
I included my silent thoughts for all my loved ones who aren't with me anymore.

We miss you so much, Sergio ...

I owe you one...

brings a message
from the unseen world.

Look,
every falling leaf
is a blessing.
